Dry the pool, dry concrete, brown edged,

And the pool was filled with water out of sunlight,

And the lotos rose, quietly, quietly,

The surface glittered out of heart of light,

And they were behind us, reflected in the pool.

Then a cloud passed, and the pool was empty.

What might have been and what has been

Point to one end, which is always present.

I am happy you talking about "empty". Empty also can mean Śūnyatā.  空(Chinese/Japanese)

Everything is both positive and negative in this world, and then forms a circle that goes to round and round to infinity. Actually, infinity is Śūnyatā (zero or nothing) as well.

This is just my idea for your information.

Thanks.

I think the word empty here is not so complicated as Sunyata, but maybe related. It's more about "empty" situation in actual life experience. And I have no idea about how Sunyata talk of  "present"....
